Spoonbread vs Corn Pudding

Does anyone else feel that these two are essentially the same thing? I've seen some people make spoonbread similar to a souffle, and some people make it similar to a cornbread version of a brownie, or even like bread pudding. I've seen similar variants of corn pudding. Is this essentially the same food with two different names?

French Culture/Language Gatherings

I'm looking for a French community in Metairie to practice French and maybe enjoy some food and film. I know there are organizations in New Orleans, but it would be nice to have something that is closer to home. If there is no such group, is anyone else looking for one.

Jefferson Parish

I'm looking for other progressives/leftists in Jefferson Parish who are involved with the state party, rebuilding or some form of community involvement. I'd love to help with something.

My student worker is from India. He's graduating college and will be hosting his Indian-American family from the East Coast. They're staying from the Ritz Carlton. His parents expect for him to pay for everyone. The family would like to try Louisiana food, so any sort of Cajun, Creole, Italian, or soul food is a possibility. He would like someplace with a nice atmosphere (like, no metal chairs), and decent food that's around 30ish/person. Every place we've looked at that fits his vibe is closer to 50ish each, which is a lot for a college kid. Are there any ideas, or does he need to sacrifice something?
