Starting to really love these!

The Eclipse + Create CRS combo feels bloody amazing! Very little wheelbite, great power transfer and top notch comfort and manoeuvrability 🙌🏻

I do not regret buying these despite the issues I had with the UFS+ system! (An arrangement was found with Disroyal concerning the faulty parts)

⚠️DO NOT buy UFS+ boots yet

LONG POST

When I swapped the UFS+ frames for the CRS on my very recently received Mesmer Eclipse skates, I noticed that the nut on one of the UFS receivers could not be tightened properly. I did not pay too much attention to it as it didn’t seem to be that much of a problem.

Fast forward to today: I briefly tested the skates after work. They felt great, but there was a tinkling sound coming from the faulty receiver. So I stopped, stripped the skate apart to isolate the issue, and found out it was the washer between the nut and boot that made the noise. Wanting to get rid of the noise, I decided to investigate on why the said nut would get stuck instead of screwing down properly. I tried to use another nut on the faulty receiver, and it got stuck. I also tested the faulty nut on another receiver and it got stuck as well, meaning that the threads on both the nut and the receiver were faulty.

I thought about it, and realised that the gap created by the lack of tightening could cause issues with tightening down both the soulplate and the frame, so I ended the session and went back home to look more closely at the hardware and find the spots where the threads were damaged.

Wanting to compare the faulty parts with good ones, I decided to also take the other receiver and nut out of the boot, and that’s when the external thread on the GOOD receiver decided to peel off of the receiver body after it got ever so slightly stuck on the plastic.

I’ve sent an email to Disroyal to explain all that, and am hoping for a very good response / excuse as this is highly unacceptable on a 400€ skate that’s supposed to be ready to roll.

Will keep you informed on how the situation goes, and really hope I got unlucky with my order, but for now I highly advise you to not buy UFS+ boots.

Picture 1: gap between the faulty nut and the boot when the nut is screwed down at its maximum on the faulty receiver

Picture 2: faulty couple parts after being taken out of the boot

Picture 3: threads on the faulty nut, you can see they’re kinda stripped

Picture 4: faulty threads on the receiver, they look weird but I could not find the exact spot where it goes wrong

Picture 5: thread peeling off of the second receiver

Please note that I have worked as a bike mechanic, am a custom keyboard builder, and occasionally work on watches, meaning I am VERY gentle when I build or strip down stuff, so don’t tell me "maybe you put too much pressure on it", thank you.

Mesmerised by the Eclipse

Waiting for the rain to stop to try them out! I got the complete flat setup, so expect a review of the UFS+ frames in a little while 👀
