Introducing Kine: a Quest-optimized media player and entertainment hub
Hi everyone,
I’m introducing Kine, a Quest-focused fork of Kodi, the award-winning free and open-source media player and entertainment hub.
Kine is designed to make Kodi feel more natural on Meta Quest, with controller-friendly navigation, smooth playback support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, plus a built-in VR player for 3D movies.
The VR player supports MVC, SBS, and TAB videos in ISO, MKV, and MP4 containers.
You can join the ALPHA release channel on the Meta Store here:

Please only request access if you’re genuinely interested in testing and providing feedback, as invites are limited.
Tips and Tricks
- New to Kodi? The Quick Start Guide on the Kodi wiki is a good place to start. It covers media sources, libraries, and add-ons.
- VR player controls:
- A button: Show or hide the OSD.
- B button / Left Menu button: Exit the VR player and return to Kine 2D.
- Right trigger outside the OSD: Toggle play/pause and show the OSD.
- Right thumbstick up/down: Move the virtual screen closer or farther away.
- Right thumbstick left/right: Scale the virtual screen smaller or larger.
- For automatic refresh-rate switching in 2D, set up Shizuku. Then set Settings → Player → Adjust display refresh rate to either Always or On start / stop.
- After setting up your sources, try switching to the bundled Arctic Fuse 2 skin (pictured) for a cleaner, more modern interface with customizable widgets.
- Long-click any video and select Play in VR to launch it in the VR environment. 3D videos will automatically open in the VR player.
- Having streaming issues with slow CDNs? Try enabling buffering under Services → Caching. This may help in some cases, although it can introduce artifacts when playing from faster CDNs.
- For streaming ISOs, make sure your connection to the CDN can sustain at least 150 Mbps.
Feedback
You can send feedback through the device or open an issue on GitHub:

Please don’t report Kine issues to the Kodi developers, as they are not responsible for Kine and won’t be able to help with Kine-related bugs.
