My dad applied for housing benefit and received a letter asking for bank statements. No problem. He calls to ask if he can send them electronically to which he is told on the phone that his application has been granted and he should be receiving payment shortly but still needs to send the statements. Checks the bank and he has received a payment from the council. He has no idea how much he has been approved for or whether this is backdated pay etc. I think there was some confusion on the phone so it’s a bit Chinese whispers. Can anyone shed any light on the process? He’s loathe to call them back and “rock the boat”.
