Been looking for a replacement for Apple Time Capsule. Bought 4TB Bee Station to replace Apple TC based on positive reviews of Synology products.
Never could get Bee Station to connect to laptop for purposes of creating TimeMachine backup. Tried to get tech support from manufacturer. The only method is a form in the app which REQUIRES error logs in order to submit a question. Could never get support from Synology. Ended up in Amazon help and they were very helpful but they diagnosed it as s as problem. We tried to troubleshoot but no success
For uploading files and fotos, there are two additional apps. It is recommended by Synology NOT to attempt to load lots of fotos directly to the device, but rather use the app and the Synology cloud. This would be painfully slow.
So given the inability to shake hands with Time Machine, 2 additional apps for photos and files makes three apps. For a NAS. Seems like it might be a little klugey, so I returned it to Amazon
What NAS would you recommend as an easy replacement for Apple time capsule? 4TB.
