Rides "4131295" tattoo is a reference to a book about post-modernism

Looking the number up on WorldCat (a website that catalogs books by their OCLC number) brings up the book "SoulTsunami: sink or swim in new millennium culture" by Leonard Sweet.

Many sections in this book ring very death grips-esq imo, so I believe it had a heavy influence on Ride/Death Grips, specifically during the TMS era. Obviously the "sink or swim" is referenced in Hacker, as well as the overall subject matter of "post-christian shit".

It's an interesting read as it goes over where technology and society was heading at the time (from a Christian viewpoint, if that's a turnoff for you) and still seems generally relevant today in many of its observations and predictions despite being written in 1999.

Some quotes from the book I thought were relevant:

"Biblical “creativity” is critical creativity. It aims not at novelty, but at innovation that specifically continues the divine work of creation. Not everything “new” is creative. To be truly creative, one has to be in touch and in tune with the ongoing mysterious, miraculous powers of divine creation."

"Postmoderns are expert miners; they possess a keen eye and sharp shovel for digging experiences from anywhere and everywhere and then stacking them up for all to see, sparkling and dazzling in the sunlight."

"What is the difference between a living thing and a dead thing? How to tell one from the other? “Locomotion” and “consciousness” always appear high on the list of identifiers. But in the medical world, a clinical definition of death is a body that does not change. Change is life. Stagnation is death. If you don’t change, you die. It’s that simple. It’s that scary."

"What if the church were to “get extreme?” By this I don’t mean “going off the deep end” at either end, but triangulating the ends into double-helix discipleship. What if the church were to embrace extreme worship (the free-form and the liturgical), extreme learning (ink and light), extreme confirmation, and so on? What if the church were to be open to the extemporaneous and serendipitous?"

I haven't seen anyone mention this here as far as I can tell so thought I would share. The book can be bought used for dirt cheap for those who know how to read and are curious. Or just pirate it or some shit idk.

That is all, have a wonderful day. :)
