Coworker crush
I (F) have a coworker (M) that I’ve had a crush on for a while. He’s a veterinarian and I’m a veterinary technician at a large veterinary ER. There’s no workplace policies about dating coworkers and he’s not my over me in any managerial way.
I’ve seen him once outside of work but I wouldn’t consider it hanging out and we’ve texted a little bit and messaged on instagram (like sending memes). He seems like a bad texter and he doesn’t really send a lot of long messages but he hearts my responses and uses a lot of smiley faces. He’s said he wants to hang out when I’ve mentioned inviting him to group activities, but he’s hot and cold with responding. I can’t tell if he’s into me.
If it seems like he may not be interested, should I just stop reaching out for good and move on?
I wonder if he doesn’t want to flirt overtly because of the position we’re in because it could be awkward. ESP coming from a doctor to a tech…
Should I try flirting overtly to give him a “green light” in case he’s trying to gauge where I am?
Should I just continue pursuing a friendship because he seems to still be friendly and says he wants to hang out?
I don’t know how to continue.
