I did an in-person max battle this morning, but I didn't get a Rare Candy XL from it. Does this week's series of events overtake the Monday bonus that we've been getting?

Unlike in previous max battles I've done, after I entered the lobby and got the battle going I walked away from the area. So it was in-person when I started (I didn't have to use the remote pass), but by the time it ended I was out of range. Would that have affected it?

I had known that the book's timeline for Fellowship was way different than in the films. But I'm in my first read-through and I was really, really struck by the number of years that takes place from the end of Bilbo's party to the flight from the Shire.

I think it hit me because I don't consider myself a hasty person. When facing uncertainty, my instinct would be to take a "wait and see" approach.

When a danger has been distant and abstract for so long, it would never occur to me that it would become imminent and concrete without much warning. And yet if Frodo had waited even one more day to leave, all would have likely been lost.

I don't know if there's anything earth shattering about this detail in the books, but it was something that affected me more profoundly than I would have predicted.
