Hi all, I currently have a Z5ii and my go-to daily lens is probably the 40mm f2. Lightweight, good focal length, takes great shots. Though I also have the 85 EVO which takes amazingly crisp shots, but is just not a super useful focal length for EDC. Thinking of getting the 35 EVO (or possibly the 55) to use instead of my 40mm. Would love that sharpness but in a more natural focal length.
I take photos of mostly my kids, dogs, walk around town, etc.
Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!
Hi all, I recently picked up a Z5ii to replace my Z6ii and while the subject AF is very quick and impressive for my pets/kids, I’m still trying to get used to some of the changes in the new processor.
With my Z6ii I had a function button assigned to “subject tracking” with the little box that I could quickly stick on something (whatever random object I want to focus on) and it would stick on there reliably while I moved/repositioned my framing/etc. I’m not seeing that as an option on the Z5ii? Seems like it was replaced by 3D tracking? I’m finding the 3D tracking isn’t as quick, sticky, or intuitive as the subject tracking box from the Z6ii. Is there an option I’m missing? Or am I not using the 3D tracking correctly?
Thanks!
Hi all, I currently have a Z5ii (just upgraded from Z6ii) and in addition to some fast primes I have the Tamron 70-300. It’s a great lens, but I don’t find I use it super often as I’d rather not swap lenses when out and 70 is limiting on the wide end. I’ve been thinking of swapping the lens out for the Nikon 24-200 as a more general use travel/hiking lens.
I’m an amateur dad photographer so I’d like great photos but convenience is important too. Is the Tamron much sharper/better than the Nikon? I take photos mainly of family, and some light travel/hiking/wildlife. Would love input from folks who’ve maybe tried both.
Thanks!
Hi all, looking for a standard zoom or mid level prime lens (ideally in the $500 and under range) that can double as a decent macro style lens. I've heard the 50 1.8s can take some pretty good macro-ish shots. Is the 24-70 f4 any good for that? Also looking at the Viltrox EVO line (35mm or 55mm). The 24-120 seems great too though pretty far out of budget at the moment.
Just want something I can use as a walkaround lens for candid family portraits, light travel, and the occasional interesting bug/flower.
Thanks!
Hi all, I’m an amateur photographer, mostly shooting family, friends, travel, and some home videos. I currently have a Z6ii with a few primes I mainly use (20mm f2.8, 40mm f2, 85mm f2) and a telephoto zoom I occasionally use for wildlife outings (Tamron 70-300).
Will have some budget to play around with soon, thinking of either upgrading the camera body to the Z5ii for the faster AF, or possibly getting a more standard-ish portrait friendly zoom like the Tamron 35-100 f2.8 so I don’t have to swap lenses so much when I’m at an event/outing.
I love my primes for how small and sharp/bright they are but it can be a pain to keep swapping them and miss shots. I also love my Z6ii, but would be nice to not miss quicker moving/lower light shots from the slower AF.
I know it’s a personal choice, but what would you see as a more useful upgrade?
Hi all, I have a Z6ii with a few primes (40 f2, 85 f2) and a telephoto for wildlife and I’m pretty much satisfied with that range as I mainly take candid photos of family and friends at events, etc.
But I would really like an everyday zoom that can cover somewhat wide (group photos) but also I prefer having more on the long end to grab detail shots, portraits, etc. Basically I don’t want to swap between my 40 and 85 primes during events, casually gatherings.
I’d like something not too big/intrusive but a useful everyday range and the 35-100 seems really appealing with that f2.8 aperture. I do a lot of portraits so having an aperture closer to my primes is big. But I hear everyone rave about the 24-120 f4 and it does have a more useful zoom range so what would y’all suggest?
Thanks!
Shot with Nikon Z6ii. Such a fun sharp lens!
Can’t believe how awesome this lens is. The image quality is superb, super sharp, beautiful colors, beautiful bokeh. And the build quality is fantastic. Lightweight and compact, but feels high quality and feature rich. Such a fantastic bargain at its price point, especially if you can get it used for closer to $200.
Loving my new setup. Great little camera.
Just upgraded to the Z6ii from a Z30 and I’m loving it. Full frame images just have a lovely depth and sharpness to them. Autofocus takes a bit more effort on my part, but has been working out just fine. Shot with Z6ii and Tamron 70-300mm.
