Been having fun hand cutting my own tiny wood and painting it!

Just finished this painting of Buffy! Acrylic paint and paint marker on 20x20" canvas

a few days ago i posted a piece i was making for my friend that i was unhappy with (3rd pic). I went back to the drawing board the next day after buying some fresh paint (a lot of mine had dried up or ran low without me realizing) and a new canvas.

As you can see, I started with the same idea (nostalgic summer evening/fireflies). Then I got most of the way through and still hated it. Even after simplifying all of the other ideas I had and just focusing on the main goal. I felt like it looked really flat and not quite like my usual art (low key sip and paint vibes- no offense to those who do sip and paint thats just not my goal).

Ive been getting over being sick and after taking a short break I realized I had no perspective or real depth. At least not in the ways I normally try to have. I wanted the sky to pop more and it still didn’t feel quite like how I wanted it to.

I also couldn’t shake that I really did want the trees to be blue and to use blue more. So, I traced out the new sight lines and adjusted the tree line then little by little added more of what i wanted.

I finished it off with some chalk and oil pastels (especially for the fireflies) and wrapped the sides with the landscape as well.

While im still not the happiest with it- it’s way closer to my original goal. It being so small I don’t think i could fully capture my vision- I will try again on a bigger canvas in the future.
