My book was released last month on Kindle Unlimited: https://a.co/d/00XVa4ra
The book approaches the addiction from the angle of "expectancy collapse." We engage in harmful behaviors because we expect some kind of benefit. If we can fully dispel the illusion that we're getting anything good, the expectation for benefit "collapses"--and quitting becomes easy and permanent.
The book isn't ideological. It's for people who have recognized that porn is a problem in their life. Maybe they've tried to quit or cut back but have struggled to do so. If you're interested, here's the "Note to the Reader":
-------------------
This book is written for people who want to stop using porn.
That may sound obvious, but it’s worth clarifying what this book is—and what it isn’t.
Some people who struggle with porn also deal with broader patterns of compulsive sexual behavior, or other complex factors that go beyond porn itself. There are many approaches that aim to address those patterns in a more comprehensive way.
This book is not attempting to do that.
Its focus is much narrower: helping you see porn clearly, so that the desire to use it falls away. If porn is something you feel stuck in—whether you think of yourself as “addicted” or not—this approach is designed for you.
If your situation involves other behaviors or deeper complexities, parts of this book may still be helpful. But it is not intended to replace more comprehensive forms of support where those are needed.
***
This book is written in four sections. The first dispels common myths about pornography, addiction, and the process of quitting. The second explores three forces that keep people caught in the cycle of relapse. The third examines approaches that appear helpful, but ultimately keep the problem in place. The final section guides you through the process of quitting—for the last time.
This approach may feel different from what you’ve encountered before. It does not rely on willpower, discipline, or ongoing management.
As you read, I encourage you to move through the book in order. Each chapter builds on the last, and the clarity tends to unfold gradually. There is no need to analyze or force anything—simply follow along and allow the ideas to land.
If you find yourself feeling skeptical at times, that’s perfectly normal. You don’t need to resolve that skepticism in advance. Just keep going.
Let’s begin.
