Roland: 9 songs recorded, shows planned for next year

"I’ve already recorded nine songs this year. I was staying in Los Angeles for the first half. Nowadays I’m a bit more fruitful. I’ll visit those songs again in November when I’m back in Los Angeles. I’m under no pressure because there’s no one saying, “It’s gotta be a hit single, it’s gotta be this, or nothing like that.” So an album won’t take 18 years because I don’t think I’ve got 18 years, but I don’t really know. There are plans at the moment to do some shows next year in June, July, and August. In terms of future music, we would probably need something to happen to give us a kickstart."

What's the latest BIG science discoveries or accomplishments, and what will be the next?

Every now and then, there are some seriously big discoveries or accomplishments, that are so big that they hit the mainstream. I believe that the last one was the first photo of a black hole.

Was that really the most recent discovery of that magnitude? And what would you consider the 5-10 most recent huge ones?

Looking for video of Jimi (de)tuning guitar while playing

EDIT: that was easy! Thanks for helping me find it. SO GOOD!!

Many years ago, I saw this clip of Jimi that I thoroughly enjoyed, but I never saw it again. Here's what I remember:

- I think it was a TV show recording. Maybe it was Hey Joe, but I'm only 10% sure of that.
- During playing, his guitar was out of tune and so he turned the tuning pegs it in the middle of the song.
- That gave some weird effect that made him laugh, in the sense of "woah, did you hear that, hahaha"

.......OK yeah that's all I remember. What really struck me is that it showed how much fun he had playing that song.

Anyone have any ideas?

Can't get high! Or stoned. Whichever.

OK please hear me out. I'm a 45-year old dude who's never been high or stoned. I never used any drugs of any kind, but I used to be a smoker for 25 years. I quit about 5 years ago and I'm scared to death I will fall off the wagon, so I don't want to smoke a single cigarette ever again. So, when it comes to cannabis and weed and all that, I'm limited to edibles and liquids.

Now, I keep trying different stuff when I buy from SQDC but I don't feel anything, ever. The obvious answer is, of course, "increase the dose!" but let's get real; if a beginner like me doesn't feel anything at all after taking something that has 50mg CBD, or something that has 15mg THC, there must be something wrong with me, no? Or is that quite common? It also feels like "just taking more" is almost desperate (and maybe I should just say that if my body doesn't do anything with it, I should just move on).

Should I really just go for 100mg CBD or 20-30mg THC, and is that safe?

Body and neck not flush? Normal?

So I got this 2008 lefty MIM Strat a few weeks ago, and I noticed that the neck is not entirely flush with the body. See the pictures where I put a card flush with the body and you'll see that there is about 1 millimeter between the card and the neck.

So, uh, is this normal? Bad quality control? Everything else about the guitar is pretty nice, but this 1 mm is bugging me.

(Tried to post this in more generic guitar subreddits as well but apparently it's not allowed or appropriate because they keep blocking/removing it)

Two maple fretboards, both feel entirely different

A while ago, I got myself a Squier Pro Tone (Korea 1997, commonly known as really good Squiers), and the fretboard feels great.
Today, I picked up a 2008 Fender MIM, and the fretboard feels..... different. Not bad, but definitely something I'll need to get used to.

You can't really see it in the pictures, but I tried. Both are maple (obviously) and the Fender (green pick, pics 2, 3 and 4) feels more "raw", like it was just sanded and then not treated with anything. The Squier (grey pick, pics 5, 6 and 7) feels smoother, looks a bit shinier, as if it's treated with something, or has some coating even.

Actually, now that I pay more attention, the Fender's neck appears to be one piece of wood (fretboard is part of the neck, see pic 4), whereas with the Squier, the fretboard appears to be a different piece of wood than the neck itself, see pic 7).

I understand not all necks are the same, but what makes these so different? Are these just 2 different types of how necks were made? Is one better than the other (one piece, or neck+fretboard)? And why do they feel so different -- it age/wear? Is it because one is just treated differently, or.....?

Would love to hear your insights on this, thanks!

Where to find cheap(ish) leftie body?

So I have a few old Squiers and I want to take the best parts of each of them and combine them into a new guitar with some additional new hardware. Now I'd really like to have a green S-type body for this, and I wouldn't mind buying a super cheap guitar (Harley Benton or Jay Turser) but it's impossible to find any here in Canada. Plenty of righties, but zero lefties.

Is Warmoth really my only option here? Or are there any other places where I can get a cheap(ish) body? I also thought about AliExpress and Temu and those places, but even they don't have green guitars/bodies up for grabs.

This guitar is not supposed to be super good (it's just for meddling and all) so I'm not really looking for top quality wood and such, just any random green body will do. Any help appreciated!
