OPA and nuclear weapons.

Is it ever mentioned how the OPA got the couple of dozen high yield fusion bombs they were planning to use on Eros surface? It seems odd they have them but don't really work as a deterrent.

I mean, they have ships capable of reaching insane speeds and nukes to load on said ships, even if for whatever reason they don't have the tech to build decent torpedoes, those two things would make a very impressive weapon, but until Inaros all the OPA acts of resistance were pretty tamed.

Scopuli, was it a coincidence?

In Leviathan Wakes, why did the Protogen mercenaries flying the Anubis boarded the Scopuli and captured it's crew alive? If the plan was to use the ship as bait from the beginning they could have simply killed everyone.

I know that in the show the Scopuli was set to intercept the Anubis, assuming it was a scientific ship, but we know that's not the case in the book.

It can't be a coincidence that they boarded an OPA ship and captured it's crew, including the daughter of their main financial backer, right?

Is the Martian military overrated?

Basically all in Universe opinions claim that the Martians are more technologically advanced than Earth. It seems common wisdom.

But reading closely I was left with the impression that Earth's inferiority is caused by politics and not lack of knowledge and resources. After all, the Anubis Class Stealth ships were built in a UN shipyard, financed by a mega corporation from Earth, with the added difficulty that they had to do it very discreetly.

6 of these frigates (imagine what they could do if they were willing to use that tech to build larger classes of ships) didn't't just manage to disable a massive Battleship like the Donnager but they successfully boarded it, and were winning the battle inside the ship, which also points to the fact that martian marines were getting their asses kicked by mercenaries.

I know that the Donnager's crew was likely inexperienced but they had a pretty big numeric advantage fighting against the boarding party and they still couldn't beat them without having to self destruct the ship.

If just one mega corp and a rogue faction inside the UN navy were able to achieve that sort of tech and competence, wouldn't the UN be able to surpass the Martian Military if they were politically and each economically inclined to do so?
