I have been having trouble with my breaker box and my electrician (under warranty) is bringing in a specialist (of the brand of breaker box I have installed in my home) to assist in finding the root cause.

So far, the electrician has done work and covered his own in terms of liability. He has not been helpful in truthfully explaining things, has not had me sign off on what he did or given me a break down at any point in time of what he has done so far.

When the specialist comes, my concern is that he will be merely a vendor (sales or some sort) and that the electrician will run the tests with the tools themselves.

This is clearly a conflict of interest. The electrician cannot impartially investigate its own installation. Without a certified field Engineer interpreting the data, the test would be an internal audit, not an independent verification... am I right or wrong?

The electrician's have been unprofessional and even gone as far as to say that he questions the validity of my problem. I asked for another electrician company because this company not only installed the hardware in my home, but has had to come out numerous times but I was told they can send out whoever they want and I cannot question it.

This falls well beyond "within reason" though.
