Why do you think the show decided to frame the dance as Targaryen v. Hightower?

This is a genuine question. It seems as if the show frames the war as the true Targaryens versus the half-breed culturally Hightower mutts and the Greens are nothing more than Hightower puppets.

This is strange. While in the books it is true the Hightowers are the Green’s principal supporters, they don’t dominate the faction. Aegon sacks Otto pretty early and Lord Ormund is a player but in the end isn’t that important (Daeron doesn’t seem to be his puppet and the Hightower host’s true threat materializes after Ormund dies and Ulf and Hugh turn cloak.). In fact, Corlys and the Velaryons are probably more dominant in the Black faction than the Hightowers in the Greens once the war starts.

There is also no indication the Green kids are any less Targaryen or act any less Targaryen then Rhaenyra or Daemon. The whole point of the conflict was that two branches of Targaryen killed off the dragons through their petty squabble. Plus, so what if the Greens followed the Seven, SO DID THE BLACKS (or at least they are supposed to)!!

The decision to frame the conflict in the show as the Valyrian Targaryens versus the Andal Greens was an interesting decision and I’m wondering why you guys think the show went that way.
