Absolute Playlists
Throwing my hat into the ring + explaining my thought process. Suggestions pleaseee!!!
Absolute Flash- I tried really hard to keep my biases from showing but it didn’t work (THANK GOD) In my heart Absolute Wally’s queer… I exclusively picked songs about freedom, being hunted, and nostalgia cause I thought they’d fit the best. It was difficult at first finding songs with the right lyrics and sound, I wasn’t sure where to start. But I think after listening to Alex Gs entire discography in one day, I must have blacked out because next thing I knew the playlist was done.
Absolute Martian Mindhunter- Each song was chosen to match w/ events in the series. I have an obvious bias for Bridget, the wife, and I hope her presence is felt through the playlist. I tried to keep her in mind, particularly with the songs Teardrops, Safe From Harm, and The Word Hurricane. My biggest inspiration for this playlist was def Twin Peaks, which is like the perfect blend of mystery + surrealist fever dream.
Absolute Green Lantern- With the power of god and anime (literally)… and all of my free time at work, this was definitely my most thought out playlist. I wanted to make the playlist thick with religious undertones, since the series has SO much religious imagery. Deathnote and Madoka Magika were my inspirations. I ended up just making this a listening playlist most of the songs are one to one with the issues (excluding a few). I thought it be easier but trying to get the songs to flow together, and follow events was stupidly difficult. Also I <3 Beef.
Absolute Superman- The playlist was the most fun for me to make, it was so easy staying on theme (Loneliness, Alienation, fuck the system). Very depressing, but somewhat optimistic; it’s Superman. It has to be optimistic. Single handedly renewed my love for the Smashing Pumpkins.
Absolute Wonder Woman- Yes. There is a Berserk reference in there. So what. I was going for a dreamy, witchy, displaced vibe. I think it worked out. I wanted to keep the playlist calm, she’s compassionate AND a badass. Also prioritized female singers over men, it’s what she would have wanted.
Absolute Batman- My LEAST favorite playlist. It needs tuning. It’s pissing me off. It’s fine.
