Bangor needs new leadership

Regardless of where you stand on the issues, the city council meetings cannot be run the way this one was. It was chaos.

The Mayor appeared unable or afraid to use a gravel. She spent the whole meeting looking at the city attorney, who no one voted for, for directions on how to run her meeting.

It might be time for the city Council to consider a recall Mayor election. Bangor needs more effective leadership.

Bangor is about to butcher its trees

The Emerald Ash Borer beetle has arrived in Bangor and is killing trees in town. The city has a plan to cut down an enormous number of trees in the city over the next few weeks. Chapin Park alone will lose almost 15 trees. Other city parks are also going to be devastated. WITH NO PLAN OR BUDGET TO REPLACE THEM

The city parks department has done nothing to prepare for the replacement of these trees. It’s not even clear that they’re going to remove the stumps. When asked directly, Parks And Rec says maybe it’ll be in the 2028 budget to plant new trees

Keep your eyes open on your favorite street or park and get ready to call the city to tell them that chopping everything down without a plan to replace it sucks and it’s not good enough for Bangor

Mayors Must Play By the Rules

This isn’t DC. Bangor Officials must follow the same rules as everyone else. The city needs to be paid the fees that are owned, with interest.

Jay Maine: a Clueless Town That Thinks it Wants a Data Center

Hell no. Hard pass on giving away state resources to billionaire investors because a handful of former mill employees can’t find work and won’t get retrained or move.

Maine does not have the legal resources, experience, regulation, or legislative sophistication to be the guinea pig for this kind of development.

If you can’t take the heat, don’t run for office….

Bangor elects its City Council to make difficult decisions for our community.

We live in a tough world and sometimes hard things happen in public meetings and leaders have to deal with them and not run away.

Counselor Fish missed a number of important votes after she split. In fact, Fish avoided voting for the city’s controversial annual budget, arguably the most important function of any city counselor.

Her emotions clearly interfered with her ability to fulfill the obligations of her role at this meeting and left her constituents represented by a vacant seat.

Historic homeowners troubled by Bangor’s proposed changes to preservation rules

If you can’t afford a historic house, you shouldn’t buy one. That fact that one guy can’t afford to put the correct roof on his house is not Bangors problem.

If someone bought a Lamborghini and couldn’t afford the tires, they shouldn’t be asking for permission to run it on rollerskates

Just because you can paint it, doesn’t mean you should….

There are more ways to make a community, beautiful than just painting murals on everything.

Bangor’s outhouses are disgusting

Yikes. These outhouses are nasty and the fact that City Council would sanction something like this as an amenity diminishes Bangors status.
