Hey everyone,
I’ve been having a weird issue with my PC for the past few weeks and I’m not sure what’s going on anymore.
About once a week, my PC would crash, and after restarting, my monitors wouldn’t turn on properly. After some troubleshooting, I suspected it was related to my RAM.
I have 2x16GB RAM sticks (Kingston FURY Beast Black RGB EXPO 16GB 6000MT/s DDR5 CL30). One of them was always installed in slot 4. What I did at first was remove the RAM from slot 4 and reseat it — after that, everything worked again. This “fix” worked about 4–5 times, but now it doesn’t anymore.
So I tested the RAM sticks individually:
- I removed the stick from slot 4 and tested only the other one → worked fine
- Then I put the “suspected bad” RAM stick into slot 2 → also worked fine
So now I’m thinking the RAM itself isn’t the issue.
However, now I have a new problem: my second monitor no longer turns on — only the main monitor works. This seems odd to me since that should be handled by the GPU, not the RAM.
Because of all this, I’m starting to suspect that slot 4 on my motherboard might be faulty.
My motherboard is an ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi.
Has anyone experienced something like this before? Could a bad RAM slot cause crashes AND affect something like a second monitor? Or could this still be something else (motherboard, GPU, PSU, etc.)?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
I used Chatgpt for this, because my english is not the best. I hope you understand my problem...
