Tech AWD vs. Luxury 1 RWD

Need some opinions. I’m helping my parents look around for a Cadillac Lyriq. It would be their first EV, and it’s the only EV they’re really interested in. Their budget is somewhat tight, ideally under $43k CAD with under 60,000 km.

We live in Canada, so AWD seems like it would be the better choice, but they also have a newer truck they can use in the winter if needed. The Tech trim seems to be missing quite a few features, so we’re not sure what would be the better compromise for the price: missing AWD or missing the extra features from the Luxury trim.

Any input would be appreciated!

Modifying Gen 2 AirTag

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help modifying a Gen 2 AirTag to run off a larger battery.

I attempted it already (first time soldering, so please excuse the quality of the work). This is just a proof-of-concept test, so it’s pretty janky at the moment.

I soldered a 3V CR2 battery to the AirTag using 28 AWG wire, but the AirTag won’t power on. Before soldering, I tested the AirTag with a normal battery after disassembling it and it worked fine.

After it didn’t power on, I tried bridging the two upper gold pads on the left side of the board because I saw several Gen 1 AirTag modification videos where people recommended bridging pads.

However, the Gen 2 AirTag appears to have a different board layout, so I’m not sure if I bridged the correct pads or potentially caused another issue. Unfortunately, I don’t have a multimeter.

Does anyone know:
- Which pads (if any) need to be bridged on a Gen 2 AirTag?
- Whether a CR2 battery should work directly without additional components?
- Any common mistakes that would prevent the AirTag from powering on after adding an external battery?
- Any clear issue with my soldering or setup.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

UWB Solutions on iPhone

Can anyone recommend an all-in-one UWB tracking device, similar to an AirTag, that works with Apple’s U1/U2 chips and can be used with Qorvo’s UWB testing app?

I’m looking for something as small as possible, ideally smaller than an AirTag in diameter, and reasonably inexpensive. I realize something like this probably doesn’t exist, but I figured I’d ask before giving up on the search.
