Is there a minimum BMI for breast reduction?
At the moment, I'm a 28F cup, and have been trying to get reduction surgery since I was 13 (I was a 30HH at the time). NHS have refused every time, I assume down to my age at the time since I was experiencing every criteria they have published online (extreme back pain, inability to exercise, insecurity etc., not to mention the gender dysmorphia I have been experiencing due to them). Since becoming an adult, I've essentially given up hope with the NHS.
I've been doing more research and have found a seemingly reliable private clinic who have done the same operation on somebody I know, and are close by. The problem is, consultation alone is £200, with a further ~£10k for the surgery. Essentially, I want to make sure that spending this money on the consultation results in me actually managing to get the surgery finally.
My main problem I'm experiencing is that I clock in at around a 19kg/m² with my BMI, making me righttt on the cusp of underweight. At the moment, I'm not, however I'm concerned they're going to deny me the surgery since it might end up being that I would be underweight after it? Not sure. Either way, everything I've seen online regarding BMI and reduction surgery literally only ever talking about a maximum, and any thread talking about being too light for the surgery essentially tells me that no person with a BMI that low would have breasts large enough to reduce. I must be some statistical anomaly, unfortunately the fact I shouldn't be in this situation doesn't actually change it for me.
Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or advice to offer, I am prepared to gain some weight if I absolutely have to but I would rather not put in all the extra effort for it to make no difference anyway 😭
