hi all, my doctor recommended physiotherapy for my tmj but i can’t afford it right now. seeing a tmj specialist would be even more expensive (thousands of dollars i don’t have, and insurance won’t cover). i am getting a nightguard soon since most of my issue seems to come from clenching my teeth.
for context, i’ve had tmj symptoms for a while (jaw clicking/occasional locking, popping when eating, jaw tension, swollen but benign lymph nodes, headaches, and neck/shoulder tightness). i also get daily ear pressure/popping and sometimes muffled hearing.
what are some safe exercises i can do at home to help with tmj? and what symptoms do they usually improve (like jaw pain, clicking, tension, etc.)? any help is appreciated!! :)
