First of all, I really enjoy the game. Bases are cool, progression feels good, and there’s a lot to love here. This post is only about co-op, because I feel like this is where the experience could be significantly improved.
1) Ships don’t really feel “shared” in co-op
Right now, each player having their own ship makes co-op feel more like “playing side by side” than actually playing together.
- You can’t access another player’s cargo hold unless you’re the owner.
- There’s no real benefit to having a teammate man the cannon — it almost feels like a disadvantage instead of a co-op bonus.
It would feel much more cooperative if ships were treated more like shared tools when playing together, rather than strictly personal ones.
2) Death in co-op breaks the team dynamic
When a player dies, they instantly respawn at base while their friends are still in the fight. This creates situations where:
- One player is suddenly alone mid-combat
- The dead player is removed from the action entirely
- The team feeling is lost
A more classic co-op mechanic — like being downed on the spot and waiting for a teammate to revive you — would keep everyone involved and make fights feel much more cooperative and intense.
Overall
The game is great, but a few changes like these could make co-op feel like true teamwork instead of just multiple players in the same world.
Would love to hear what others think about this.
