I’m a 30-year-old guy about to finish a 1 year and 6 month rehab program for cocaine addiction, and I’m trying to figure out what my life realistically looks like after this.
I guess I’m just wondering:
Has anyone here started (or restarted) their life around 30 and successfully gotten into software development? How realistic is it to break into the field with no formal background if I’m willing to put in the work? And for those who’ve dealt with addiction or major setbacks how did you rebuild confidence?
I’m committed to staying clean and building a better life, but I want to be honest with myself about what’s possible.
Any advice, experiences, or even tough truths would really help.
