Applying to: Gen surg (Prelim/Cat)

YOG: 2024 STEP 1: Pass STEP 2: 27* STEP 3: 24*

USCE: Rotations at 3 major US hospitals, with strong LORs

Research: Enough compared to previous year stats for gen surg applicants.

I understand applying is a gamble as an IMG and without a postdoc, but I would really appreciate it if anyone had any suggestions on which programs I should target and where I have good chances. I don't mind doing the prelim route and then converting, but at the same time, I don't have a problem with matching CAT at a community program in the first cycle. But I also wouldn't want to be at a place where there isn't specialist management and patients keep being referred.

Hi everyone. I am applying for General Surgery (Prelim and Categorical) in this year's MATCH but I am not sure how to even get started with making a program list. I am IMG so I understand my limitations, and I want to be very careful and thorough with the list. Additionally, I don't have any geographical preferences either. Can anyone please guide me a little on how to get started? I know of the main resources I should use, but I am a bit confused on all the columns I should have in my list. Thanks in advance!

How are we feeling?

I don‘t know, I feel as if I went into the exam a bit overconfident. Both days seemed very hard to me but let’s see what happens tomorrow.

As the title says, I submitted the assessment yesterday but I am still stuck at the “thanks fo…” screen page. Should I just move on or it takes some time for them to approve someone?

In addition to the one stored bag and one backpack, can I take a small shopping bag on the bus with me? I know sounds lame but two-three things weren't fitting so I just put them in a small shopper. Will that be a problem or not?

Hi everyone. Does anyone have a discount code or a voucher I can use? I only need it to select the seat as they allocated me one right next to the bathroom, which obviously isn't delightful. Thanks!
