We have reservist soldiers, has any country ever had reservist factory workers?

One of the of the most glaring problems exposed by the war in Ukraine was how rapidly ammunition stockpiles were depleted and how the handful of ammo factories still in operation weren't enough to meet demand. After the cold war ended so many of those factories were shut down for the peace dividend, my question is has any nation tried to maintain capacity and technical know how by having "reservist" factory workers? Idk just spitballing here: Your paid to show up an evening every week, do maintenance, training etc, maybe once a month you all come in for a weekend and the whole crew does a 48hr mock run of full wartime production to check that everythings oiled and working properly. Does anyone know of any other schemes that were attempted to mothball industrial capacity?
