First 12k-step walk in a long time, and it felt really good

Went to a botanical garden with a friend a few days ago, and somehow ended up doing around 12,000 steps. We took it slow, stopped a lot, and honestly it was probably the longest walk I've done in a long time.

A few people looked curious because I was wearing a dnsys walking assist device. I get it, because from the outside I probably look pretty "normal". But ever since COVID, I've had some lingering issues with fatigue and my legs wearing out much faster than they used to, especially on longer walks.

At this point I kind of think of it as my version of a walking aid. It's not something I expected to be using, and yeah, it does get some looks, but if it helps me stay out longer and actually enjoy places like this, I'm okay with that.

Being able to walk around, look at plants, and feel like I was part of the day instead of constantly managing my limits felt really good.

I have some old, non-interconnected First Alert smoke detectors and I’m thinking about adding some x-sense wireless interconnected smoke detectors with phone notifications as a backup. I’ve heard some people complain about their certification, so I mainly want it as a backup.

Does anyone else do this? Is it overkill to have two detectors in the same area?
