I upgraded to a Gen 3 because it had 1/4 inch TRS outputs on the back, great, they work just fine with my monitors! However the headphone output sounds metallic. Quite like cochlear implants (see Sound of Metal movie ending for reference).

So far I’ve tried,

- downloading drivers / Focusrite Control

- uninstalling them ^ and trying with default Windows drivers

- different cables (including one that came with device)

- different USB slots

- Restoring to default settings in Focusrite Control App

- different headphones

Sorry if this is an overdone question. I’m just a bit stumped
