Is it possible to separate Analogue 1+2?

Hello, somewhat recently got a scarlett 2i2 4th gen and I am planning to get an XLR microphone to plug into input 1, I already have my guitar's signal into input 2 and I was wondering if it would be possible to separate Analogue 1 and Analogue 2

I want only my voice to be picked up on Discord without my guitar also being picked up, ideally I'd like to separate this into Input 1, Input 2 and Input 1+2 (mono).
I looked around and all the posts I found were 6 years old. Hopefully there's a way to do this without extra software as it'd be convenient but if I absolutely HAVE to resort to 3rd party software then so be it.

Help!

Okay so I have a problem,
I have my interface set up in amped roots, but I’m not able to hear it through anything (other than asio mode) without extreme latency.

**Yes, im aware of the buffer settings DO NOT REPLY WITH TS**

I want to be able to hear my guitar without latency, while using my pc as the output instead of the interface itself, so that I can then connect the audio through OBS and into my stream, while still being able to hear it myself. (Either though my headphones or through a speaker yada yada)

So my question is: can I use VoiceMeeter Banana as an alternative asio, and how would I go about that.

Thanks! 😭

Best audio interface for Shure SM7B?

Hey everyone,
I’m having issues with my Shure SM7B + Focusrite Scarlett Gen 3 + Cloudlifter. The audio sometimes cuts out, and my volume randomly gets louder or quieter.
I bought a Vocaster One to replace the Scarlett, but unfortunately it’s even worse.
At this point, I just want a reliable audio interface that works perfectly with the SM7B and provides enough clean gain. I don’t mind continuing to use the Cloudlifter if needed.
What interface would you recommend? And could these issues possibly be caused by something other than the interface?
Thanks!

How to Mute Studio Monitors use Headphones?

Hey there, I have a scarlet solo 3rd gen, and Kali IN-5 studio monitors. My goal is to be able to press a button to either mute or kill power to both studio monitors so I can use my headphones in the front port. Is there a solution to this? Thank you in advance

Edit: I know there’s not a way to with the scarlet solo itself, i’m more so asking if anyone has a solution to this that worked for them, like using smart power switches or studio controllers

ASIO Compatibility with VST

Am looking at the PianoTEQ Pro 9 VST to be used in Ableton Live 12 in conjunction with the Scarlett 16i16 interface. Is the Focusrite ASIO going to work with it? Any issues I need to be aware of ahead of time? Don't need any unnecessary headaches. Thanks.

Major Issue with my Focusrite 2i2 4th Gen

Hi all,

To make this short and simple, my Focusrite has a major, loud glitching issue that has become more persistent over the last few months.

When I first purchased my Focusrite, this was never an issue and has only started happening in the last few months. Whenever I am recording music or just listening to music and/or playing games, the interface starts screaming at me with a loud buzzing noise and distorts from time to time.

I've reached out to support with this issue, and they pretty much told me to swap ports, uninstall drivers and reinstall drivers, switch cables, and update Focusrite Control.

None of these options have helped me at all, and I feel like day by day this problem is getting worse; it's completely stopped my creative ability to create music in my home and has become increasingly frustrating to even use my computer at all.

Above is a video showcasing what this noise sounds like and the "fix" that I do to stop it, which is simply refreshing the buffer rate. This helps for maybe less than 10 seconds before the issue happens again.

Anyone able to help me?

Hi-Z port does not work but XLR does

HI, I have a Scarlett 2i2 4th gen and am trying to record bass on it using a Fender Precision American Standard.

If I plug the bass into the Hi-Z port on the front, I get no sound from it. I make sure INST is selected, gain knob is up. The light flashes on the interface, but it doesn't output any sound.

My amp is a Peavey Max 208 so it has a built-in DI. If I connect the bass ro the amp and then connect to the Scarlett with XLR, it works great.

I verified it's the correct type of cable, TS style (one ring on the jack). It's a standard guitar cable.

What could be going on here?

Used 8i6 setup help

I just got an 8i6 on Facebook marketplace for pretty cheap and have been trying to set it up. I'm getting hung up right now with it not showing up on my computer when plugged in. I tried basic troubleshooting making sure drivers and everything are up to date and also swapping cables in and testing different ports, but it's just not showing up on my computer. It admittedly did not come with the stock power supply and I have been using a cable that should match what it needs, but I do notice that all lights and meters stay on (shown in picture) which doesn't seem to happen in setup videos I tried checking to make sure everything was setup right. Just trying to confirm if it maybe is an issue with it not being the stock power supply or if it might be something else

How to record loud vocals w/o clipping on Scarlett Studio 212?

RECORDING EXAMPLE

I am a musical theater singer and so far when I have tried to record a song with my "loud" vocals, the gain is clipped and goes into the red zone. I have tried to lower the gain on the mic, but this just makes the entire track more quiet and doesn't really improve the quality of the sound. If I hold the mic further away, as seen at about 10 seconds, the sound also just gets quiet/seems distant and does not improve its quality.

I record in Ableton and I use the Scarlett Studio 212 mic if that helps somehow. I would like to just keep my set-up casual and not drop all of my money on fancy gear and pop-filters. There has to be a way to adjust the recording on a technical level. Can anyone tell me if there's more settings I should be looking into on Ableton/Scarlett Studio?

If your Focusrite is crackling, glitching, or dropping… this fix saved me.

I’ve been dealing with random crackles, audio glitches, and full dropouts on my Scarlett Solo (4th gen) for a long time. Audio would freeze, loop a buffer into a distorted mess, or cut out entirely until I re‑plugged the interface. I even did a full clean boot to rule out software conflicts. I also tried a UA Volt and previously a Scarlett 4i4 (3rd Gen), and all of them showed the same behavior, so it clearly wasn’t a hardware defect.

If you haven’t used LatencyMon, it’s extremely helpful. Just run it for about five minutes while playing audio, then open the Drivers tab and sort by highest execution time. The drivers at the top are the ones causing the worst DPC latency. In my case, Wdf01000.sys was sitting at the top with a huge lead. That’s a Windows kernel driver that handles device framework operations, so when it spikes, it usually means something else in the system is stalling it, like a USB controller or a port that isn’t handling USB audio well.

LatencyMon also shows a warning on the main screen if it detects latency issues and will tell you which driver is responsible. The best way to use it is to run a scan after every fix you make. That’s how you know whether a change is actually helping. For me, Wdf01000.sys dropped from first place to fourth place after I moved the interface to the correct port, which is how I knew the problem was actually resolved. I also got a positive message on the main screen saying no latency issues were detected, which confirmed everything was finally stable.

After testing different ports, I found out something important about my motherboard (Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE X3D): the USB‑C ports are not equal. Two of them are “USB‑C DP” ports tied to the GPU’s DisplayPort lanes. These caused constant DPC spikes and unstable behavior with audio interfaces.

The fix was moving the Scarlett to the top rear USB‑C port labeled “USB 3.2 Gen 2.” That port is routed through the chipset and properly supports USB 2.0 fallback. I got the same good results using a USB‑C to USB‑A cable, which forces the interface into a stable USB 2.0 path. Both setups performed identically.

On my board, the stable port happened to be the top rear USB‑C, but I recommend checking your motherboard manual because the layout varies. Not all USB‑C ports are equal, and the manual will tell you exactly which controller each port is connected to.

To make sure the fix was real, I stress‑tested the setup using SoundID Reference in virtual driver mode, which intentionally introduces extra DPC load. I also ran the interface at 192000 Hz sample rate and a 16‑sample buffer, which is about as harsh as it gets for USB audio. Even under both conditions, the system stayed stable and clean.

This is a pretty specific case, but I hope it helps someone else, or at least helps you identify whether DPC latency is the culprit and where to start looking. LatencyMon makes that part much easier.

Is an input level spike on one channel normal when first powering on an 18i20?

I bought a used 3rd gen 18i20 from Guitar Center. I have not even started to learn how to use it yet but I want to make sure there's nothing wrong with it before my 45 days are up. Its in great condition, the plastic on the front isn't even peeled. I have it plugged into a furman. When I turn it on sometimes I will see an input spike all the way to red on channel 3. There is nothing plugged into the unit. It goes away after a second and then the green lock icon illuminates. Is this normal or is does this indicate some type of issue?

Headphone mixes routing, ran out of outputs, can you route the front headphone jacks?

Hello all!

I'm needing one more output for a custom mix for a second guitarist, and we have already utilized all of the output jacks in the back of the 18i20 for the other members. Is there anyway possible to utilize the two front headphone output jacks on the units for this? Just wanting to utilize the jack/jacks as a custom mix to my headphone amp like I have the rest of the band members. This would save me from buying an ADA8200 haha.

Any help is appreciated!

Scarlett solo 1st gen buzzing

Focusrite Scarlett Solo started beeping after being dropped — need help diagnosing it

My Focusrite Scarlett Solo was accidentally dropped, and ever since then it has been acting weird. It started making a beeping sound, and I’m trying to figure out whether the drop damaged the hardware or if there’s something else going on.

Before the drop, the interface was working normally. The problem started immediately after the physical impact.

Now there is no response from my guitar input whatsoever — plugging the guitar in produces no signal. The gain/volume knobs also don't seem to do anything, and the interface continues to beep.

Unfortunately, I can’t take it to a repair shop because there aren’t any proper Focusrite/audio interface repair services available where I live in Jammu.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Scarlett Solo after it was dropped? Could this be a damaged USB/power circuit, an internal connection that came loose, or damage to the input/control circuitry?

I’m looking for a safe way to diagnose it myself before considering other options. Any advice from someone familiar with Focusrite interfaces would be really appreciated.

There will be noise.

Hi.

I've tried 3 audio interfaces, and the Focusrite Scarlett solo 3rd gen is the first one that worked, so I kept it.

But, it doesn't really work 100% and Focusrite doesn't seem to care. I've done everything suggested by them and by various audio communities online.

My issue is that I use my PC all the time. The audio interface is always on and always plugged in. I'm always using my PC speakers. My computer is on pretty much 24/7. I don't have a dedicated DAW laptop, for example. Seems like Focusrite expects that. A big part of their troubleshooting advice was to hook it up to another PC, as if I have several lying around.

The Scarlett Solo will introduce buzz every few days. It always gets fixed by unplugging the USB from the back of the Scarlett and then plugging it back in. But I have to do this 3-4 times a week.

I haven't had this ruin a recording (yet); I'm just a hobbyist and technically use the audio interface more for just listening. Again, all of my audio goes through it all the time; whether I'm playing a video game, doing work, watching YT, listening to BGM, whatever.

I think these things are tested hooked up to a laptop or something that's turned off regularly or just not used more than for "working hours" or whatever. I think they should test these things by running them constantly for months.

I also think it's ironic that I've never had an issue like this with a basic PC sound card interface. Ever. Not in 30+ years of owning and using PCs.

Should I unhook the Focusrite Scarlett Solo and only use it when I want to record or play into a DAW? I mean, should I just be using the basic sound card for everything else? I don't want to do that because it means changing all of the audio driver settings every time I want to use a DAW vs everything else I use my PC for. I also only have the one set of decent monitor speakers I use for everything.

I wish I had the money for a seperate machine just for DAW, but I'd need to save up for a laptop for that. Ideally, I'd want a macbook air as a dedicated music machine...But again: I'm not rich, and I'm just getting into music as a hobby.

Focusrite keeps picking up audio when there is none

So it is like my focusrite / microphone (Rode NT1) doesn't have a noise filter anymore, super suddenly, without any changes to any settings. The green around the gain is constantly on (flickering rather) and I noticed when recording that there is this constant "windy" sound. Does anyone know what this problem could be and how to fix it?

Monitoring with Scarlett 18i20

Hello

New to reddit and first post. Sadly maybe a long one... Kindly asking for guidance please using Focusrite control.

I am about to record my 8 pce. band for a video. I am using my 18i20 2nd gen with two other interfaces to get enough channels. On a Mac and set up as an aggregate for 14 channels to GARAGEBAND. I have not had to use the Scarlett for monitoring in the past so am a bit of a newbie to this software.

I need to build two separate monitor mixes - one for three horns another for 3 vocals. I would like to send these channels to two separate powered monitors. Other instruments do not need this monitoring.

I can get Focusrite Control to detect the inputs but can not get any output. I am testing with a pair of Presonus studio monitors. I have tried to set up two mixes for the 18i20, inputs for channels 1, 2,3 , the other for 3,4, 5.

Control is "hearing" these channels, but there is no output to the monitors. The online user guide and videos do not seem to cover my situation. Anything I can learn for this community would be welcome!
