Anybody use Microsoft Family Safety and have to use their email every time the kid logs on?

Good morning!

We recently setup Microsoft Family Safety on our 9 year olds laptop. I'm IT so I figured this wouldn't be much of a hassle, and for the most part it isn't, but there are some caveats that I don't think is normal.

Every time my son goes to log on to his account on the laptop, he has to enter MY email, which in turn sends a code to me, that I have to enter into his laptop. I almost get this, but what I don't get is if I have a set schedule and times for him already setup in the app, why is he being prompted to type out my email every time he gets on? I'm just trying to make sure this is a feature, and not an actual issue. Search terms aren't returning much on Google.

Thanks in advance!!

Headphone mixes routing, ran out of outputs, can you route the front headphone jacks?

Hello all!

I'm needing one more output for a custom mix for a second guitarist, and we have already utilized all of the output jacks in the back of the 18i20 for the other members. Is there anyway possible to utilize the two front headphone output jacks on the units for this? Just wanting to utilize the jack/jacks as a custom mix to my headphone amp like I have the rest of the band members. This would save me from buying an ADA8200 haha.

Any help is appreciated!

Windows Standard Server licensing help!

Hello!

I just need to know exactly what I need to buy to be compliant with Microsoft Licensing. We will be running 2 servers. One Server will be 32 physical cores. The other server will be 36 physical cores. We want to run 6 Microsoft Standard Server Virtual Machines on each server. This will be for a Proxmox cluster, so the Virtual machines will be the same, but I know that doesn't matter when licensing. I just need to know exactly how many of what product packs I need to buy from TechSoup! I've gotten different answers everywhere!

Thank you in advance!

Since we are talking about the overflow of NAM plugins, what are YOU using?

I'm just really diving into NAM, and it's pretty much option paralysis not only because of the amount of captures, but the amount of plugins supporting it.

The two I see getting mentioned most is NAM Universal II and Genome. I've tried Soundshed, and it works well but the GUI needs some work.

Suggestions for what you have found useful aside from Gateway?

Utilizing 10Gb NIC for Proxmox VMs, will this work for clustering as well?

Hello all!

Still soaking in Proxmox, but loving it so far! I've got a Dell R640 with two 10Gb Nics and two 1Gb Nics. Right now I'm just setting everything up. My plan is to bring in and HP DL360 Gen9 and HP DL360 Gen10 as nodes for clustering eventually. I have a Unifi Switch with two 10Gb SFP+ ports. My thoughts were to use one of the 1Gb as management, and one of the 10Gb to SFP+ for VMs. I know I would need to upgrade the Nics in the HPs to 10Gb, but not sure how to connect them all to achieve 10Gb speed? I ALSO have a Synology RS3618xs with 4 1Gb ports that I will push backups to via Veeam (we have a subscription). What would be the best way to do all of this? The HPs DL360s currently have four 1Gb ports on them each, so I assume I need to upgrade the Nics to 10Gb, as well as possibly the Synology Nics as well.

I may be overthinking this, it's only for around 7-8 low resource VMs, but if I have 10Gb, it seems stupid not to utilize!

EDIT: I should have mentioned this is a Small Business production environment that I'm migrating ESXI to Proxmox on.

Importing ESXI Windows VM to Proxmox, what is the correct method?

Anybody have a current guide for this? I honestly thought importing these would be pretty simple, but I've had tons of trouble right off the bat no matter what method I've tried. I did manage to do the Sata workaround once, but after that the the Scsi device in the Device manager wouldn't accept any of the Virtio drivers. This last time I tried installing the VirtIO drivers first on ESXI, and running a script to load them at boot, and...that didn't work either. Inaccessible boot device.

From the way people were talking, this was a simple migration, but for Windows, I'm having exactly the worst luck, and all the guides/videos seem to say different things!

Dell R640 Boss S1 Card, Proxmox not seeing the two Sata drives?

This is probably super dumb, but do I need to go and create a virtual disk in the idrac for the Proxmox install to see my two Intel SATA SSd cards on my Boss S1 card? I can see my 10 other drives in the server. I was able to go into the idrac earlier and verify the two Intel cards are seen when I click on Physical disks, so I know they are at least working!

Edit: Got it! What a great community, thank you!!

Possible to find camera recovery codes via ssh into UNVR Pro?

Long story short, I'm making progress in a situation that was caused by Unifi Support making me try a Vantage Point upgrade without properly telling me how to unstack my UNVRs. I need to know if the camera recovery codes are stored in either the parent or child consoles, since I can still ssh into them.

Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: I have found them!! In case anybody ever goes through this, you can ssh into your UNVR Pro and go to /etc/unifi-protect/jsonDB and open the Cameras.json. You will have to parse through, but search password and you will find them.

UNVR Pro's stacked. Support had me unstack, now the child is not viewable anywhere, but can still ssh into it. Help!

Good morning, I posted a while back about an issue with my UNVR Pro's being stacked, but not updating together. I decided to reach out to support for this last week and was told that stacking UNVR's is not support anymore. I was not aware of this. I was told to click on the "upgrade to Vantage Point", which I did, only for it to tell me that "Migration is not supported" for two seconds in the upper right hand corner. After that, my child UNVR Pro is no longer viewable as a sight, or anywhere else. When I go directly to it via IP, it says I do not have permission to access this device, regardless of how I try to authenticate. I CAN ssh into it. I still have a case open but basically I'm being told I'm going to have to reset the child UNVR Pro to factory settings. I have no problem with doing this, but I know that usually means having to physically reset the cameras (16 cameras) that would require us to hire people out since they are all over on top of the building, etc. Not reachable by us. I've seen a few other instances posted with the same exact issue, down to the T, and they have said that support had them ssh into the Child to fix it, but do not remember the specifics.

If anybody can help, I'd appreciate it!

Also, if I go to https://unifi.ui.com/vantage-points/new (thanks for the forum for posting that link!), I can see that the UNVR Pro is not selectable, and it says they are stacked, so it's still seeing them stacked right now somehow.

Docker Desktop on Windows, how to backup and restore on Linux?

Hello all!

We are running Xibo signage on a Windows VM using Docker Desktop. We will be moving over to Proxmox soon and need to backup and restore this instance, preferably to a linux distro (ubuntu likely). I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this on Docker Desktop. Granted, I'm used to working in Unraid and proper containers, so the Docker Desktop interaface is a little lacking!

Any help is appreciated!

Dell R640, new build. I just ordered a TPM 2.0 module, was this a waste?

Good evening!

I just got my Dell Poweredge R640, HBA330, and Boss S1 card in for my first small business Proxmox adventure! I ordered a Dell TPM 2.0 module in case a Windows 11 VM, etc needs it. Was this a wrong move? I'm seeing various reports from various dates saying that it's useless, to it's needed for Windows VMs, etc. Can anybody chime in and fill me in!

Insurance payout pending, use credit card or credit union loan?

So we had a tree fall down in a neighbor's yard and knock out the power all the way down the street. Unfortunately it broke out service entrance and pulled it from the house so they told me we would have to get an electrician to repair it. Luckily I have State Farm homeowners and they have been working with us on hotel costs while it's repaired. The repair is $2500-$3500 and my deductible is $1100. They have agreed to pay for the repairs but obviously I have to pay out of pocket and try reimburse me. The big question is should I use my credit card with the high rates and hope that state farm pays all of it, or should I run to credit union which I have an account and get a personal loan. My credit is great so no worries on that.

I think I know the answer but I need reassurance haha

Anybody know why my sorted by release type group differently for certain artists?

Any idea why all remasters and compilations aren't grouping together, instead of grouping into separate groups?

I have it set to group by release type in this order.

Album
Album;Remaster
Album;Compilation
Album;Live
etc

But as you can see here, and it's only maybe....15 artists in my collection, that you will see Album;Compilation and Album;Remaster sorted into separate groups and not all together.

My sorting is this, which is what I understand to be correct and works for most of my music

Album Artist/Release Type/Year/Album

High humidity situation, do I need to insulate this, or close off the slats on the door?

Adding an imgur post in case the uploads don't work. https://imgur.com/a/MKyy3Yg

So, I live in Arkansas and we have been getting storms and rain off and for about a week straight now. It's been super humid the majority of the time with temps reaching in the 90s. Last year we started getting high humidity warnings on my Ecobee, so we cleaned the evaporator coils. The blower motor and control board for the system have also been replaced within the past two years. My friend who used to do HVAC with his family business has been helping me. After cleaning the evap coils, things seem to run like a champ.

Then it started getting hot this Summer, and the never ending storms moved in and I started getting Ecobee humidity alerts. I did something stupid by trying to adjust my condensation pipe from the outside, and actually made it drop to an angle where it wasn't draining correctly. Needless to say, I started getting some leaks inside and the humidity got worse and worse, eventually reaching the 80s until for a few days until we figured out what happened, and corrected the issue. It's draining normal again, the pan is empty. I threw some AC tablets in the pan while we were checking things out. It's been about 48 hours since we fixed the issue, but we are still getting high humidity, albeit not as bad. Overnight is when we have the most issues because the unit cools to the temp and stays off for a while, with humidity levels reaching low 70s. I'm not sure if it is just going to take time to get the humidity out, of if I need to go get a dehumidifier to run for a bit or what. My HVAC friend says that I need to get some insulation either seal off this area above the unit, or seal off the slats in the door, and that would most likely help. The house was built in the 70s, so it's older, but we did just replace all of the windows late last year. There is no actual attic access to this house, the area above the HVAC unit in the picture is just a open void. You can actually see the daylight via the pipe leading to the outside (not in the picture tho).

Sorry for the long post, this has been a super stressful situation with 8 people in the house, and I am having to go have hand surgery tomorrow. When it rains, it pours (especially in Arkansas!)

UPDATE: Thanks for all the replies, so yeah, don't close off the slats in the door, got it haha. There is area below the unit/filter that it pulls air from as well I guess? I added another picture to the imgur post. The unit is NOT oversized, 2.5 ton for a 1600 sq ft house.

Server for Proxmox. Dell Powerede R640 with HBA330?

Hello all!

Looking at a rackmount server for our small business that will be running around 5-7 non intensive VMs (only one on Server 2019). I'm looking at one of these Dell Poweredge R640s and looking to add an HBA330 controller in it since it seems to be the recommended setup.

We have two DL360, one gen9 and one gen10 in production now running Vmware. Like a lot of other people, we are trying to move away but I want a new server to TEST Proxmox out first, and then I can convert the HP servers into nodes. What are your thoughts? We will be running 2.5" SSDs for storage, and probably run a few NVME in JBOD to host Proxmox on. Just making sure I'm looking at decent hardware/pricing. It's been a long time since I've looked at servers, and I have no hands on experience with Proxmox! Thanks in advance!!
