I’m fairly new to drumming, going on 9 months now. I did a lesson on Drumeo where you get to play along with a bassist and I really enjoyed that. I do not have any family members or friends that play any musical instruments, I don’t want to join a band, I just want to jam with other people. How do you go about doing that?
First off, just wanted to say thanks to this community, you all have helped me on choosing my first acoustic kit and cymbals. You made this process a little less scary especially with the amount of money involved.
My new Mapex Armory is shipped and I have a question about drum heads, especially since I know nothing about them except of what I have watched online. Should I just use the ones that come stock with kit? If not what recommendations do you have and what should I stay away from?
My daughter will be moving out in August and I will finally get to upgrade from an Ekit to and acoustic kit 😬 Her room will be my new Drum room and I will be setting it up in there. I have two questions, #1, I have pretty thick carpet in there, that I don’t think just a drum rug will make the kit stable. Was thinking about laying a piece of OSB down and covering that with a drum rug. Will this work or does anyone have any other suggestions? #2, I need to dampen the sound down some due to my sons room being next to it, besides getting low volume cymbals and heads and not spending a ton of money, what are some suggestions for that?
