How tough are modern inline speedskates for road use?
The frame in particular looks flimsy compared to urban skates and the carbon fiber boot proving some support to the frame is probably brittle compared to the hard plastic shell of urban boots.
Will speedskates survive hitting sewer covers or bumpy patches / small potholes / stones I missed seeing, or jumping/hopping over these at >40 kph?
There are no bike / jogging paths where I live so the only place to go are poor quality bumpy roads or the extremely bumpy sidewalks with "waffle iron" ramps in many places.
The frame is 6061 Aluminum which is more flexible or less brittle than 7075 although built thicker and heavier and I weigh 120 lb /54 kg with size 40 (adult size) skate.
Even though I weigh little, I think smaller boots are built significantly lighter and not as strong as bigger boots.
Does this mean I can no longer skate-commute with speed skates?
I've watched videos of Joey Mantia skating on the roads across the city or in the countryside on speedskates, even hitting potholes and sewer covers at high speed. But these guys are likely to be sponsored and can easily replace their skates and not traveling over bad roads up to 100 km each week.
