Context we all here 16-18

Basically story goes like this. I am friends with, let's call him Tom. Tom dated let's call her Mary. Well more like a 6 month situationship since most they did was held hands. Anyways it ended around April /may but the aftermath got worse in the summer. At the time nobody else really knew the situation. Till that moment in June i hadn't been talking to Mary like at all but one time we exchanged like 2 words in the student council gc and somehow it went to the dms and we spent till 4am just talking. Anyways be became friends or smth like that but then there was this event coming up. I told Mary you should prolly go. But then Tom saw who said they was going on the poll in the council gc and message me privately telling me Omg why tf is she coming. Anyways i said i told her to but atp I didn't know the full story. Anyways he told me and i was like hm ok.

Anyways then there's let's call her Pauline. Pauline is a mutual and generally a bad influence but whatever. She was friends with Mary and her best friend is Tina who is also Mary's best friend. Anyways I, Tom, Pauline and the vice principal were in a car ride to pick up stuff for graduation and Tom just broke down showed his texts whatever. The vice principal, a 35ish hip female millenial, confronted him and ig life was good. I felt sad for Tom, but i never stopped talking to Mary. In fact i still do and till like 3am every /other morning . But at one point in July, Tom said to me it's disgusting i still haven't cut contact and that she ruined her life and whatever. And every time we hung out (usually me, Tom and my best friend - Oscar), he would make a point about it. Last time we met tho - he told me to show my convos w her and then when i declined called me disgusting but after that when he had to text me on WhatsApp acted all chill.

Anyways Pauline supports that sentiment. And Tina, Mary's best friend has complained and snitched abt Mary to Pauline multiple times. But still they act all friendly on Instagram stories.

Anyways,at one point I and Mary started talking about that situation but like i hadn't to her before directly really. But omg she told alot abt her side of the story and i realized Tom, his friends and Pauline etc were full of shit. But I can't turn Tom down and especially Pauline bcs when we were closer she knows alot abt me she could use as blackmail if i ever turn on her. But also I already talked shit about her with Mary.

L8ke omg am I a bad friend but i slowly feel distancing from them but it's not easy bcs Tom trusted me w so much and if i say idc/I'm not on ur side the friend group (i, tom, Pauline, Oscar and his gf) falls apart

But anyways Tom and Oscar tease me abt still texting Mary. And i have to repeat there's nothing there.

I'm stuck anyways.

Im 18 and currently at my grandma's job because they have an AC. My grandma is the CEO of the firm, but her lead accountant is 87. She told me she started working in the early 1960s. She somehow still understands modern accounting systems or smth like that. This gave me an impression that this is a old people profession. Is that the case or is this an outlier?
