Extremely happy with results so far. I had previously written up a long post in the past in a different subreddit but I think that subreddit was deleted. Instead of rewriting everything, I’d rather just post these pictures and hopefully if anyone has specific questions, I can respond to those.

I’m 25M, hair started receding at around 20 yrs old. At 23 I went on oral minoxidil and dutasteride because I started rapidly diffuse thinning. That recovered a lot of density, but temples never really grew back in, so this hair transplant helped fill those back in a lot!

9 days after transplant- normal?

Hey! Was just wondering if you guys have seen something like this before where the density drops off immediately behind the transplanted area? I would have thought that they would transplant a little more so that it integrates with the previous hair more, but not sure if this was done for a reason or if it’s normal. Either way, I’m sure it’s not going to be noticeable in a year when my hair grows out

Hoping to keep a bit of a journal on my account of my regrowth progress.

Hair loss started when I was 20 years old. Mostly recession. Diffuse thinning started at 23, and I got on tried the main things recommended over in r/tressless. Eventually went on dutasteride + oral minoxidil, which I’ve been on for almost 2 years now.

With my hair stabilized / some regrowth, my hairline still didn’t ever fully grow back in, so I went for a transplant yesterday.

I paid for 1800 grafts for £5,700 ($7,750), but I think they ended up taking a little more than 1800 grafts.

Pictures are 1 day post-op, day of procedure, and before the procedure. (1 day after, right after in the car on the way home, after in the operating room, and before).

I’m spraying saline on the donor and recipient areas every hour. The clinic also gave me prednisolone to take for the first several days to help reduce swelling. They also gave me paracetamol for pain, but i only used a couple after the surgery - the entire process was pretty painless. The only part that sort of hurt but was totally tolerable was the local anesthetic injections.

The procedure took about 3-4 hours, I think. The doctor drew the lines on donor and transplant area (confirmed I liked the lines), performed the anesthetic injections, and made the transplant area incisions. A team of 2 technicians, each with 6-7 years of experience, performed the extractions and the graft placement. They also used microscopes to sort out the grafts into multi, double, single grafts. Since I mostly had multihair follicles in my donor area, they had to split lots of them (sliver them) to make double and single grafts in order to soften the hairline.

The whole team was very nice. Doctor was great. Reception was friendly. The patient advisor is kind and very available.

So far, so good, I think. I’m very happy with the shape of the transplant area. It looks pretty natural but like a big improvement.
