I just got through my first year of therapy school!

I'm in a two-year mental health counseling masters' program, and I just turned in my last paper of the year and my practicum supervisor's final sign-off -- and with that, I officially got through my first year! I found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm going to be working with eating disorders in a private practice for internship, which I'm VERY excited about, but this summer break is going to feel goooooood.

This has been a dream of mine for so long, and I did so much work to get into this program, including spending a year taking undergrad psych classes just to apply (my bachelor's is in a different subject). I absolutely busted my ass for what I wanted, and it worked. I hope it's like that for all of you too.

I can't believe I'm halfway done. Just wanting people who also just finished the school year to celebrate with me! We all kick ass!

I finished my first year of therapy school!

I'm in a two-year MHC program, and I just turned in my last paper of the year and my practicum supervisor's final sign-off -- and with that, I officially got through my first year!

Somehow, I got into my first-choice school, my first-choice practicum, and my first-choice internship. I can't believe I'm halfway done. Just wanting people who understand to celebrate with me.

Also, if anyone has tips for new therapists working with eating disorders, I'm all ears!

Urgent care doc said possibly scabies?

This is on my thigh. It started itching a week ago and looked like a small bite. Over the next five days, it developed into this. The urgent care doctor said it looked like it could be scabies, so I used permethrin that night (this was three days ago), and have been washing it twice a day and putting hydrocortisone cream on it. It keeps growing, and I keep waking up with new bites, despite washing and changing my clothes and bedding daily. I haven't had skin-to-skin contact with anyone who's infected. Help?

For those of you who are about to go into a mental health counseling program in the fall, I wanted to answer any questions I could. The process can be kind of mystifying before you start, so if you have questions about practicum or internship or anything else, just ask!
