New long size - Now too short

New long size - Now too short

So, I ordered myself yet another set of Fjällräven Vidda Pros. One of the few hiking/everyday trousers I have found with long enough inseams for me. And they have endured surprisingly well on all my adventures, hikes and urbex trips etc.

But now it seems the new long-size Vidda's are too short for me and by looking this up, I found out about the new "improved sizes".

Well, that's it, no more Fjällrävens for me then, sadly, that is.

And yes, I could go for the raw lengths but then miss all the nice things at the hem, so not exactly the best solution.

Mopar 318 - worried after machining

So long story short, I took the engine block to a major sized shop for machining. They told I need boring to oversize (0.020"), new pistons and polishing crank with checking clearance with plastigauge to crank and connection rods.

Fast forward: I got the engine back but all the bearings still in packages (paid for the clearance to be checked). Six months pass and they take the block back to shop and do what was agreed and paid for.

Now, finally checking the engine and I am worried about couple of things:

  1. There is visible variation in honing pattern in a few cylinders, and some very slight pitting. I fear the cylinder was bored to too small oversize and they are oval? Major problem or visual annoyance?

  2. The bearings seem like they had some abrasion marks, not really scratches but still. And some dirt in them! I got the engine back without any wrapping or covers, so might have caught the dirt after machining.

  3. The surfaces have caught a few rust spots (I oiled the cylinders and bearings with spray oil when I got the block home). They feel elevated so propably just some contamination from the shop. Tried remove them with oil and soft rag but that was not enough...
