Do You Feel Powerful or Invisible in Your Career

After having a conversation with a coworker who feels lost in her career, I asked her what are her strengths and what does she enjoy doing. Although I see her strengths, she does not, and has no idea what she enjoys most about her job.

I think the lack of awareness is what's keeping her from visualizing a clear path and knowing when and what positions to apply for. My coworker also want to be recognized but there is no real strategy in what she does for recognition. Right now, she feels like her best option is to look for a new job, but I think she need to figure out what drives her or she will end up in the same place on a new job.

Our conversation made me reflect on myself. I definitely feel accomplished in my career and I feel very visible and appreciated. I think the only thing I'm not clear about yet is how far I want to go in my career.

Where in your career do you feel most capable, appreciated and seen?
And where do you still feel uncertain, invisible, or unsure of yourself?
