My embouchure is REALLY tight. It’s starting to leave very bad indents on my under lip and making my lip fill numb afterwards. I’m trying to loosen up but it feels like I can’t play without doing that.
My band director is going to allow me and a few section leaders to take notes up into the higher ranges. I’d like to know the best way to prepare and learn the Altissimo notes effectively. I am aware that it won’t be fast and easy, and I’m fine with being able to get one or two notes by the time next season starts.
Currently Learning Ferling 8. I’ve been using it to practice double tonguing, but I’m unsure if I should just single tongue or keep double tonguing, I’m at about 70-80 BPM. Is it possible to single tongue this song?
I’m 11th grade saxophone. I can hear other instruments be out of tune. But I can’t tell if I am without hearing another in tune saxophone play near me. I also can’t tell whether or not I’m sharp or flat. I believe this is due to me not paying much attention in middle school, and not being as far ear training wise as everyone else.
Is there something I can do to fix this?
Edit: I can’t tell which direction (sharp or flat) out of tune someone else is either.
