Considering buying this Mark XX, is it a good deal?
Hi guys - Long time lurker first time poster. I noticed the green dial Mark XX a little while back and it piqued my interest but with the recent price hikes (across the board) I didn't think it was the most responsible decision to buy one and have instead been looking at smaller independent brands and some microbrands (i.e. Oris, Nodus, Formex, etc). Fast forward a few months and I'm at an AD to look at some Oris Propilots and I noticed this preowned Mark XX on a bracelet. The SA offered it to me for $4,200 off the bat which is less then what I've seen then go for on sites like Chrono24 and Bezel. My question is if this is a really good deal that I should pull the trigger on now or am I likely to find a Mark XX for that much down the road?
Also sorry in advance about the picture quality. I trusted the wrong person...
Update: Thanks everyone for the input (and enablement lol). I spoke with the Sales manager who's family owns the Jewelry store and he said he couldn't get to the price his SA originally offered but ultimately came down to $4,400. I decided to entertain the offer and went back to look at the watch again in better lighting (ready to pull the trigger) and noticed the crystal has several scratches. They said they can send it out to have the scratches buffed and crystal polished but the price is firm and I would need to buy the watch first. I tried to negotiate for $4,100 cash but they would not budge. For context, both my father (who went with me) and I each bought a Breitling and Cartier and we took my brother and mother also bought a Cartier each from a different manager that is no longer there and this is my first time dealing with a family member.
Am I being too neurotic and anal about this? Looking for guidance as this is my first attempt at buying a pre-owned watch as I'm getting into that phase of collecting where buying new is becoming less practical and I'm trying to be more intentional about adding watches to my collection (this would be my 8th watch not including some sentimental ones).
When the SA quoted me $4,200 it was actually his last day so I regret not moving on it at the time but I only when in to look. Scratches or scuff marks were hard to capture but I marked the photo so you guys can see. This was going to be a birthday gift to myself.
