First time buyer but not main residence
Hi all,
I am thinking of buying my own property. My husband and I have separation of assets and he bought the apartment we live in before marriage. All deeds solely in his name.
I currently live rent free except for half the necessities monthly i.e electricity/water, groceries, etc thus, am able to save more.
I would like to buy my own property solely in my name and be eligible for the first time buyer scheme and stamp duty scheme but it will not be my primary residence.
Has anyone been in this situation before please and what did you do/how did you go about this?
Eventually I would like to rent it out as I don't want it sitting idle. But I would also like it there in case anything happens with my marriage and I have security to fall back on.
Any advice would be appreciated. TIA
