Does it make sense to take 150mg of XR 2 times daily opposed to 300mg once?

The pamphlet I got with the med explicitly says not to take it 2 times, but rather once whether it's 1 or 2 pills.

But the doc prescribed it as 1 pill in the morning, the other in the afternoon.
