A positive reminder of our advances and medical opportunities

I don't typically post but I felt the urge to share this:

Reading this book on queer history and although I knew queer surgeries are relatively new compared to the general history of cis surgeries it hits differently when you read it in a book. We sometimes complain over results and complications and of course I am not denying the suffering of our generation, just that reading this made me feel a little more at peace. So many of our queer ancestors (linked by the common struggle of the soul, not necessarily blood) have died to pioneer the advancements we have today and I feel if they were alive they would have been amazed of where we are and what is available to us to feel more at peace within ourselves. Testosterone and Estrogen only came out 1935-1938 for us. Sweeden was the first country to provide free HRT care in 1972. 1946 first RUDIMENTARY trans phalloplasty but actual RFF 1980s-1990s. RUDIMENTARY Vaginoplasty 1930 but actually commonly known one 1950s. If you are struggling in recovery, remember that we live in an era where we are lucky to make it out and CAN make it and our surgeries are not the last thing heard of us. Wherever, whatever continent you are ... A life as ourselves is attainable. Hang in there. You will get better if you are still recovering, or take a moment to appreciate you made it if you are post all surgeries. ✊ I wish you all the best and a good life ahead
