Custom Osburn 3500 Faceplate Cut – Exposed the Brick Instead

Has anyone else cut or modified their insert faceplate to expose more of the original brick? I always feel like the big boxy surrounds cover too much of the fireplace.

I ended up trimming and fitting mine to reveal more brick, and I’m really happy with the final look. Installed with a Z-Flex insulated liner.

Been working on a modular fishing/storage setup for my SUP using the Harbor Freight modular organizer crates, and honestly they work great with a few modifications.

I used dowel rods through the side loops to connect everything together with bungee straps, and the spacing on the SOL SUMO just happened to be perfect. I used PVC trim board to attach rod holders, made a custom cupholder from PVC, cut one of the modular lids into a small flat table/work surface, and trimmed part of the other tote so it would clear the hinges properly. Also, the bungee straps to the right double as a quick way to store my paddle. Everything packs up nicely. Is anyone else here doing something similar?

That groove, the storytelling, the whole swamp vibe… it just hits different.

Does anyone else agree or am I alone on this one?
