First board
My mom bought me my first board at 35. I went through a lot of loss and she could see how depressed I was. She knew the cure.

Yep I am sitting on the waters edge because I didn't tighten my paddle and it slipped out and sunk to the bottom. Lesson learned. Total sup time 8 min, gonna break a record when my new paddle and spare arrive. Side note great shoulders work out using my arms to paddle back.
We went SUP in Sardinia in the late afternoon, thinking we would just enjoy a calm session in a protected bay.
We arrived around 17:00, and for the first part everything was completely still — almost glass-like water. We spent about an hour paddling inside a very calm and sheltered area.
About 30 minutes into the return trip, conditions changed quite suddenly. A thermal wind picked up and the water surface turned noticeably rough within a short time. What had been an easy trip became much more demanding on the way back.
It was a good reminder of how quickly local thermal wind systems can develop in Sardinia, especially later in the day.
Just sharing this as a real experience for anyone planning SUP or water activities there — conditions can change faster than expected.

heading out at night, this is a first for us, what do we need to know, what do we need, what lights, gear, etc. Tell me all of it all. We are in Florida so gators and sharks oh my!!!!
Tried paddleboarding at a friend's place in FL a few years ago and finally bought my own inflatable. First time out this morning (playing hooky from work) and I had a blast! It was much brighter out than the pic shows (I was using an ancient Kodak waterproof camera) - great day to be on the lake, despite how drought-depleted it is. Sitting or kneeling so far - the standing part will come with practice.
I got spoiled by my L2Fish because its built like a flats boat and can handle living on a rack in the sun 10 years and it barely even faded. Bought a Bote and the tail delaminated after just two weeks because it was barely poking out the cover, whoops. Can anyone recommend a board manufacturer that builds them to withstand direct sunlight for outdoor storage?
Just tell me which dang board to buy because my ADHD is going back and forth and back and forth.
Pioneer 3 or Switch Compact or Switch Pro?
I reallllly wanted the Atoll but they are a few inches narrower and I am a beginner so want me a floating door.
About me if it helps -
I live just outside of Houston, Texas.
52yr old female, 150lbs, 5’ 5”. pretty sporty, can swim enough to save my life in the right circumstances but not a strong swimmer (yes, I will be wearing a PFD and learning to swim better!). Recently divorced after a 27 year marriage and trying to recover from the loss of my son; trying to regain some sense of life, get myself out of the house and this funk I’m in and also meet people.
Plan to just float on calm lakes, mostly alone until I make some new friends.
Looking at premium brands but can’t afford the best of the best. Would like to stay under $1000 for everything (board, PFD, accessories etc).
I just can’t seem to bite the bullet on a specific one. Atoll was my first choice. Then I was looking at the new Blackfin but didn’t love the color choices. Yes, functionality is more important than color but ya know, I’m still just a girl! Seems Isle checks all the boxes but I can’t decide on the model.
Sorry in advance for the novel and yes I have read the 3 million ‘which board shall I buy posts’!
Just bought a paddle board and I’m looking for places to go near Dalton,GA. Im brand new so I’m not sure how it works really. Can I just get in any body of water?
If anyone knows any good spots nearby or any tips, it would be appreciated.
Beginner here in UK, anyone got opinions about their experience at this location?
does anyone have tips on how to get my dog to chill on the front of the board?
EDIT: Should i be worried about his nails popping it?
The seam on my inflatable SUP ripped open. None of the plastic is torn or ripped, just the glue or whatever method they use to seal the seams failed.
It's about a 6" tear.
Is this something that's fixable or is it done for?
I’m new to paddle boarding and live in the Niagara region of Ontario. My first time out I went to Jordan harbour conservation area. It was nice and calm and I really enjoyed it. Does anyone have other places they like to go in the region? Maybe some place with clearer water? Thanks in advance!
