Supporting Local - Colombiche

Supporting Local - Colombiche

Now THIS is what the neighborhood needed. Great food, good people - portions are huge. Coffee is solid too.

I went for brunch but a lot of patrons were ordering the lunch special and that looked great.. might do that next time.

The place was packed around 12pm Saturday, so expect a wait , but it cleared up around 1pm.

Masani Pizza - Supporting Local!

(Alright reddit- please be kind..)

So many people have been posting about this place. Reviews are mixed, so I thought I’d give it a try myself. (We usually go to Austin St Pizza for slices when we feel like having any, so that’s my standard)

First off, the food was actually very good ( what made it good imo was the quality of the ingredients and the cook of the dough - pizza did not flop! Nice crispy crust.) And there have been so many reviews of the pizza so i won’t double down on that - but if i have any guests in town- I WILL be bringing them here.

I’ve seen people here complain about the prices - and I get it - but I also have to think that local businesses need to pay the rent, their employees, and lots of other overhead.. sh*t is expensive in 2026! (A slice was $4-$5, the pinwheel was $6!) Personally two slices would be enough for a full meal.

Now what I like about the place is that it’s deeper in the gardens than anything on Austin Street. Which means, I can have a really lovely walk - pass by Forest Hills Cafe, have some coffee, and then have a another nice walk to the pizzeria. And I recognized everyone there, mostly locals in the neighborhood (i went on a tuesday)

So all in all, if you’re looking for a massive dollar slice with mediocre ingredients that can just get you by, this isn’t the place for you..

But if you wanna have a really nice day, enjoy a walk, have great pizza with really good ingredients and hang out at a place where everyone is so nice ( I saw so many families’s grandparents, grandkids etc.. and everyone was so nice). I’d go! Good idea for a date day, or a family outing :).

Again, please be kind. Somehow people on here really hate when I post nicer reviews :’)

Edit 1: i’m not an influencer by any means so my photography is not the best. Left measurements of slice in the comments!

Edit 2: the best thing is for you to try it yourselves if you want to! This was my experience and taste.. everyone is different and prefers different things of course.

Mr.Vino’s Cucina - Supporting Local!

It’s me again - and in another effort to support local businesses: today I tried Mr.Vino’s. We were craving sandwiches and found this place. First of all the heroes are massive, and the ingredients are super fresh. Not pictured is another chicken cutlet hero that we devoured before I thought to take a photo… Thought i’d share if anyone is interested!!

Plugging in another local business that I found and really like!! they’re called Timeless Finds and they’re between Austin and Ascan! It’s a small vintage store and gift shop (got some stuff for mother’s day) .. I’m trying my best to support local mom and pops in the area since Austin Street has become so commercialized.. I hope this helps 🙏
