White Castle Queens NY Closing

Sadly White Castle across from the Queens center mall will be closing permanently at the end of this year. What a shame it’s been there for over 50 years. High rise residential building taking its place. Will definitely miss eating there on occasion.

Park covering Union Tpk tunnel opening

This may be a stupid question, but why can't they build a park or some greenspace to vill the void above Union Tpk? I know trucks aren't an issue because they dont fit in the tunnel to get onto the turnpike, so what is stopping this from happening? Of course construction of something like this would impair the traffic and accessibility, but I think in the long run, this could be super beneficial. It would make it so much easier/safer to cross this part of the turnpike. Is there a petition for this? Because I will sign.

Local Dermatologist Recs

Thanks in advance! Need to treat elevated psoriasis flare ups. I’ve never had skin issues until I hit my 40s and the local derm I had been seeing has not been able to solve for it.

I did search the page first and the other posts are for specific treatments that don’t apply.

THANK YOU!

Looking for tenant to take over lease

Hi Forest Hills folks - My wife, newborn baby, and I are vacating our 1bd /1bath apartment on July 1 to move to the Bronx for a new job, and we are helping our landlord to find new tenants to take over the remainder of our lease, which ends on Jan. 31, 2027.

We've lived in this apartment for over 2 years, and it's a wonderful space. The apartment is nice, quiet, and spacious (950 sq ft), with great natural light. It has a sizeable kitchen for the price and lots of closet space too. We pay $2600/month. Additional costs would be electricity, gas, and Internet. We're on the top floor (6th floor) of a building on 72nd Ave, right between Austin St and Queens Blvd, so just a few steps away from Austin Street and all its shops, and about 3-5 minute walk to the express E/F/M/R subway stop and the LIRR. For anyone interested in learning more, message me! I'd be happy to share photos/videos and answer any questions you may have about the space.

Allow 2.5 hours for domestic flights

We had a flight at JFK, Terminal 5 on JetBlue at 9 am this morning. There's a lot of traffic getting to the airport because of construction, and then the departures level was closed so there was a long line of cars waiting to get to the arrivals level instead. There was a line at bag drop off. After waiting in security line for an hour, they told me there was a problem with my ticket and I had to go to JetBlue helpdesk. My teenage kids went on without me, but one of them was selected for secondary screening which took quite a while. In the end, we all missed the flight and got booked on a flight 12 hours later!

Even without those complications, a lot of people don't allow an hour to get through security. (We would have made the flight if we had not encountered other complications). Several people on our flight (and presumably other flights) missed their flight.

Any good driver’s classes in Queens/surrounding areas?

I’m looking for a drivers class or instructor near the Forest Hills area or anywhere nearby that provides a car for instruction.

For context, I have my license however I haven’t driven in at least five years and I want to freshen up my driving skills. And even in my limited driving experience I’ve driven upstate in Rockland and WNY. I’ve moved to the area about a year ago now and have a child so I’d like to be able to drive and get around places when my husband isn’t able to.

If you have any tips I should keep in mind, I’m open to suggestions. Thank you in advance!

Portofino topiaries and plants look beautiful

I was sitting on the bench a week or two ago while the landscapers were taking them off the truck and they’re absolutely gorgeous.

Looking at co-ops in Kew Gardens

Hello, I'm looking to buy an apartment in a co-op in Kew Gardens and found a place we were interested in Beverly House. I was wondering if anyone had an insight into the building and board. It looks lovely, but does anyone know if it is managed well (physically and financially)? We also noticed that part of the building faces the LIRR tracks, and was wondering if the noise from the trains is bothersome, if anyone has experience being in a building facing the tracks. Any insight would be appreciated!
