I archived the most important Rec Room websites before the shutdown, but I need your help with the archives.
1 Proof of recroom.com's preservation
Before the shutdown on June 1st, I archived a bunch of important Rec Room sites using Browsertrix on Docker Desktop in Windows PowerShell. Sites (and all their sublinks only after) include:
It's late so to be honest there may be more links I forgot about in some of the archives but whatever. I avoided the main rec.net as its UGC nature means it would be quite lengthy and would never finish. If so it would be terabytes.
All sites are in fantastic working condition (including images, javascript, etc) except the forums page which is somehow missing its exact links and always wants to redirect to /history when visiting the root no matter what I do, despite the underlying forums existing. What I need is:
- Help with actually putting these out into the world properly (hosting them on my own website, or to archive.org)
- Help getting the forum.rec.net in a working state.
The good news is 100% of the Rec Room Creator Forums were archived by me. It took around 2 days of juggling my laptop and I believe it was 18,000-22,000 pages total excluding the junk navigation % links. If anybody has any experience with .wacz archives please reach out.
Here is what I've got: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lqW5xRih20j0kZZGLCfX_jgW9r4_VwzC?usp=sharing
You can use replayweb.page to view the .wacz files. Forums section even has a video showing what happens. Thanks
