Urgent: Burbank Tenants Union is Looking for Armenian Translators ‼️

📣 YOUR NEIGHBORS NEED TRANSLATORS!

We urgently need volunteer translators to help reach and support even more members of our Burbank community.

If you speak another language and are able to help, please reach out to us via email with the subject line “Translator Volunteer Inquiry”.

Do you know someone who wants to help their neighbors? Share this post with them!!

The more languages we can communicate in, the more tenants we can reach, organize, and support. We’re stronger together 🏠✊🏽

Reminder: In-Person Meeting is Tomorrow at 7:30pm! ⬇️ Read what to expect in a meeting

We have meetings every Thursday with our in-person meetings being every second and fourth Thursday of the month. These meetings are hybrid and you can access them via our normal virtual meeting link that’s listed in our linktree in our bio or by signing up for our email list on our website.

Every Thursday that is not the second and fourth of the month is virtual. Our virtual meetings are where you can find out how to get involved or join as a member, breakout into your designated committee groups, discuss admin tasks and union updates, and host office hours for new tenants seeking resources or how to organize their buildings.

Our in person meetings announce updates about what members are working on, provide an opportunity to get involved in these projects, discuss admin/org structure, coalition building opportunities, committee breakout sessions to do work, and a chance for new people to talk with current members about how to join or get pointed to the right resources or get support on how to organize a building.

Your fellow union members are looking to start planning skill training focused meetings and provide clearer announcements on what each meeting is going to discuss or be about in the near future. In the meantime, the above is what you can expect from virtual and in person meetings!

If you have any questions about how to get involved, how to join and become a member, or any other questions, feel free to drop them below.

Upcoming July Meetings and August Social With Your Neighbors - Build Community and Get Involved!

You are needed to help build tenant power in Burbank!

Your neighbors are coming together because they know the only way to win is together. Is your landlord ignoring repairs despite you paying more than a third of your income on rent? Are they raising your rent despite doing little to no maintenance?

Tenants have power to fight back, learn how to organize a building. If you have any skills or are willing to learn, lend your neighbors a hand. When we all come together, we stand a chance against slumlords and speculative investors. Your rent is your power.

The work won’t get done without you. See you at our next in person meeting!

Burbank wants to spend $250k+ on mass surveillance. Now is the time to speak up!

Tonight the city will be voting on the budget, and will effectively lock us into another year of the big tech company Flock gathering data in our community.

There's tons of reasons to not want Flock, but for one they work with ICE. Another great reason is the MANY lawsuits other cities have had to file with Flock because Flock does pretty much whatever it wants with your data.

On top of that, there's been reports of Flock personnel, as well as Police, accessing the camera network to stalk lovers, or watch children's playgrounds. It's creepy shit!

Please, if you're able to, come speak at council and demand the Flock contract be ended now.

We are in a cost of living crisis. Rents are rising, layoffs occur every quarter, and food is the first expense people cut back on in hard times.

This isn’t right. The people of Burbank deserve to eat. If we stand in solidarity we can show this system that no one deserves to go hungry.

We need your support. Sign up with the link below. Because in times of crisis we got us!
