Dealer Service

I'm having an issue. Here's the background: my favorite car mechanic retired, and I couldn't find another good mechanic that could fit me in. Since I had no way to keep my used car alive, I bought a new 2025 Hybrid Forester (First time Subarowner -beautiful car). I planned on using the dealer for the basic oil changes, state inspections, etc..until at least 36K miles, maybe more to maintain a relationship - I never used dealer service before. I recently took it in for my first oil change at 5k+ miles and I was told they would also rotate the tires at this introductory, first time price of $54.95.

Cool beaners - show me what you got. A pleasant staff, relatively clean waiting area, wi-fi. The mechanic called me when my car done and said that they didn't rotate the tires because I still had at least 8/32nd tread. The pleasant staff I first met overheard this conversation and smiled at me. Seriously?

Now I know synthetic oil, filter, gaskets, mechanic's time, pleasant staff's salaries is some serious overhead at a dealer, and $54.95 was a nice offer, including a tire rotation. But man, I'm smelling BS - don't tell me you're going to do something and not do it.

I'm not sure what my options are. I don't have an independent mechanic to go to, and another dealer might be worse. any pearls of wisdom for this Subaru swine?
