Despite making his debut for the Uruguay NT last year, Julio Daguer (Peñarol) is yet to play a league match in his career

Daguer made his Uruguay NT debut out of nowhere in October last year. He was originally a training player who travelled with the main squad. Bielsa used to take young players from Uruguayan clubs as training players, but usually didnt include them in the matchday squads. Since Bielsa only brought 17 main players for 2 friendlies this time, Daguer and few other training players were named on the bench to make up the numbers. When the match was about to finish, a player got injured and Bielsa was forced to bring in Daguer cuz there werent any senior subs.

Its been 10 months since then, and Daguer (18) is yet to play a league match in his career. He has only played 2 matches in his senior club career (both being cup matches). Mascherano and Harry Wilson also began their senior international career without playing in any league matches btw. Pretty rare case anyway.

Who's your favourite PSG academy graduate from the QSI era who never made it big?

It will be Jean Kevin Augustin for me. There was a short period of time during 2016 when I believed he is better than Mbappe (especially after those U19 Euros). However in the 9 years since leaving PSG, only notable highlights in his career have been a skill move while playing for RB Leipzig and the controversies surrounding his transfer to Leeds United.

Honourable mentions - Hervin Ongenda and Alec Georgen. Would've included Jonathan Ikone as well, but at least he went on to play and score for the France senior team.

Igor Akinfeev (40) is currently in his 24th senior season, having spent all of them with CSKA Moscow!!!

Almost forgot about his existence ever since Russian clubs got banned from UEFA competitions. His name usually doesnt get mentioned as much as Maldini, Totti, or even Reus when the topic is about loyalty. Akinfeev joined CSKA Moscow academy in 1991 and made his senior debut for the club in 2003. Made 800+ appearances for the team since then. 35 years at a single club is just unreal! Respect. 🫡

Marquinhos is the first player in professional football history to win 40 trophies with a club!!!

Marquinhos won his 40th trophy with PSG the other night when they defeated Aston Villa to win the UEFA Super Cup. And he could win the 41st trophy tomorrow when PSG face Lens in the French Super Cup!!! He is also currently the second-most decorated player ever (43 trophies), with only Lionel Messi ahead of him.

P.S. I specifically said professional football cuz there are players like Lee Casciaro who have won 60+ trophies while playing in the Gibraltar league system, which is semi-professional (or even amateur at one point).

Found this in my brother's collection. Is this coin genuine?

I don't have much knowledge about coins. Found this coin in my brother's collection. Is this coin really from 1835?

As a Malayali, idk if this is some sort of flex, but I created his Wikipedia page almost 3 years ago when he was largely unknown 😬

Ayyoub Bouaddi. Happy to see him getting the well deserved recognition, even though I thought he would be the face of France's midfield post 2026 WC. Usually less than 2000 people read his wiki page per day, but yesterday it was 45k! Expected to cross 100k today (no, I dont make any money out of it. I am just happy that people all around the world read what I wrote 😬)
