TB vaccine

Bit of an odd question, but do you guys have the BCG (tuberculosis) vaccine/ are you going to get it? The university that I am planning to go to (Newcastle) say that it is required for their course, but the vaccine isn’t widely being given anymore? I’d have to get it privately as it is now deemed ‘occupational’ according to my GP (she made it sound like it would be hard to get?). I looked on other universities’ websites and some mention that if you do not have the vaccine you get a kind of blood test instead- I’m wondering if Newcastle haven’t updated their website to say this yet. What’s weird is they say when we arrive in September, we will be given Hepatitis B vac(the other main occupational vaccine), it would make sense if tb was given then too?

Ive heard it’s really painful so would only rlly like to get it if I had too, my GP made it sound like it was pretty unnecessary.

I’m assuming the regulations are similar for medicine and dentistry so would be grateful to hear from anyone :)

I recently withdrew from Plymouth Dentistry and firmed my other offer, mainly to secure accommodation there. I was a bit frustrated with how long Plymouth were taking especially as we were told we’d hear “by March” at interview. We also weren’t even officially made aware that there were only around 20 places this year, which made me reconsider things around the uni overall. Plymouth was originally my first choice from a financial and logistical pov, but the application cycle definitely made me rethink it.
I’m still slightly unsure whether I made the right decision, anyone in the same position?

I also felt that my other offer was from a more established uni and that i’d gain more confidence moving further away from home.
